All you need is a remote for that bad boy and you'll be in the butter zone. Very cool Zak

It's connected directly to the tv via HDMI for right now, but when I get a receiver (currently shopping for one) it will run through that first. As for setting the software up, this guide pretty much is what I used: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1250607. Everything pretty much worked "straight out of the box".

That's badass. I want to build one when I get the money. Props for G-Skill ram. Wink

You make it sound so simple. How is it connected to the TV? Is the sound running through a receiver? Would love some explanation on this as I'm HDTV dumb.

It pretty much all went togther wihout a hitch, although i'll be tweeking it for a while to make it all how I want it to look. After the win7 install, it took about a half day to get Media Center configured, the plug-ins installed, and 4 Blu-rays ripped to the hard drive. It took about 30 mins per BD to rip (30ish GB per). I spent the better part of this morning playing with themes, backgrounds, and custom icons.

Thanks Apad  Grin

Yes, i3/i5 5xx-661 procs have 2 physical cores dedicated to the GPU, which makes it very capable of 1080p. the i5 660 uses 14w less than my choice, but the GPU clock speed is less as well. The mobo I'm using has a x16 PCIE slot if I need to up the graphics. The SSD was a last minute choice, as I wanted to maximize the hard drive slots, and the SSD would save me one, as I can just mount it pretty much anywhere inside the case.

I plan on using Win7 x64 Media Center, using AnyDVD/AnyDVDHD to rip BD and dvd .isos to the HD and then Daemon Tools and Total Media Theater 3 to mount and play the ripped .isos. I'll also be using Media Browser, which replaces the default Win7 MC movie library.

That is more powerful than my current gaming rig hahaha. I've been out of the hardware scene for a while, but from what I understand, that's a good setup. Love the choice of SSD for the system drive. I assume the graphics will come off the embedded vidcard in the mobo?

Looking forward to pics. Never built an HTPC myself, so I'm very excited to see it come together.

As an aside, what OS/software are you planning to run with? I've seen HTPC in action with Windows/OSX/Linux. My fav would have to be OSX. It was just so polished.

Thanks for the thread. Gratz and good luck!
